A few years have passed since Stormcraft Studios released their less-than-memorable sequel to Microgaming's old classic, Agent Jane Blonde Returns, and despite its watered-down math model, it has seen moderate success. Microgaming partner Agent Jane Blonde Max Volume takes things to the other extreme, at least in a sense. There are many more engaging features, and the math model is much more powerful.

Although the audiovisual presentation is similar, the blonde agent looks the same with her long, golden hair flowing free. It is possible to win back-to-back at times when playing Rolling Reels, but the tumble sequences rarely last very long. There are three volatility options in the bonus round (low, medium, and high), and it's all about the multiplier that increases or increments up to +5. It can also boost the jackpots randomly triggered up to 10,000x at most, resulting in higher payouts.

Volume Features of Agent Jane Blonde Max

Wild symbols appear only on reels 2 to 5, and they replace all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations. The wild can appear stacked on the middle reel, but it has no value of its own. For five-of-a-kind wins, the four premium symbols pay between 3.2 and 6 times the stake. In Rolling Reels, winning symbols are removed, allowing new and/or existing symbols to fill in the gaps. As long as you keep winning, this will repeat.

There are three options when you land at least one Agent Jane scatter on all 5 reels in the same Rolling Reels sequence:

-15 free spins with an x1 starting multiplier that increase by +1 per spin.
-10 free spins with an x2 starting multiplier that increase by +2 per spin.
-5 free spins with an x5 starting multiplier that increase by +5 per spin.

Retriggering the bonus round requires landing the Agent Jane scatter once again on all five reels in order to get the same amount of extra spins as you initially received. However, the multiplier cannot exceed x100, and it also affects the three jackpots.

The Jackpot feature can be triggered by landing at least 5 Agent Jane scatters anywhere in view, but it's not guaranteed. It is guaranteed, however, that you will win one of the three jackpots when the feature triggers. There are three jackpots, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, which pay 100x, 25x, and 5x your stake, respectively. At least these are the default and base game values, but the bonus round multiplier can increase them up to 10,000x, 2,500x, and 500x.

Along the reels, you will see various brightly colored lower value card suits that stand out against the purple background. The values increase from 3 to 5 combinations of the Club, Diamond, Heart, and Spade symbols. Combinations of spy-related paraphernalia, including a smartphone and car keys, a spy drone, a martini, and a jewelled necklace, can trigger higher payouts.

Players can earn up to 6x their stake when five red sports cars appear across a payline in the main game. The game offers a greater number of winning combinations because it has a medium variance and a high pay-line count. Summary of the review

Despite its shortcomings, the synth wave soundtrack is decent enough. The 'Max Volume' part of the title is not clear, though. It could be an encouragement to dial-up, or a description of Agent Blonde's hairstyle. Despite being audiovisually similar, Agent Jane Blonde Max Volume is far superior to Agent Jane Blonde Returns. In this follow-up release, the math model is significantly beefed up, and you'll find more engaging features.

In that sense, the Rolling Reels aren't really a defining feature. Bonus round multipliers are essential to doing serious damage, and we like that the progressive multipliers also increase the three jackpots per free spin. Even with the most volatile option, it didn't seem hard to get extra spins, and it can be quite a thrill ride if you manage to rack up some serious multipliers towards the end.
